How do I decide on the best attorney for my case?

  • Select an attorney whose practice is dedicated exclusively to personal injury and wrongful death cases.
  • Ensure that the lawyer you choose has many years of experience and a track record of winning recoveries for clients.
  • Choose a lawyer with a superior Martindale-Hubbell rating by peers. Look for a rating of AV, the highest possible.
  • Check the lawyer’s AVVO rating. Look for the highest possible score—10/10.

Don’t hesitate to ask the attorney questions; after all, he or she will be representing you. For example, ask how often the lawyer tries cases in court.  Although many cases are settled before going to trial, the best lawyers are willing and able to try a case to a jury when necessary and win. Why is this important? Some personal injury lawyers are uncomfortable in the courtroom and avoid trials; insurance companies know this and are less willing to offer a fair settlement in an attempt to force the attorney to settle for less.
